A reminder makes your device notify you about a task, at a time you choose or when you arrive at or leave a place. Jotifi also notifies you when someone assigns you a task or changes something in a project you share. Every notification is kept in your notification history.

Where notifications arrive#

Jotifi sends notifications to the Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android apps you are signed in to, once you allow notifications on each device. The web app does not show notifications, but reminders you set there still reach your other devices.

On Android and Android foldable

When a notification arrives while Jotifi is open on Android, it shows as a banner at the top of the app.

Where a place reminder works:

DeviceWhen it can go off
iPhone and iPadAny time, even when Jotifi is closed. Allowing location access "While Using the App" is enough.
AndroidAny time, if you allow location access "all the time". Jotifi explains this before it asks.
Mac and WindowsOnly while Jotifi is open.
WebNever: the web app can't watch your location. Set the reminder there and your phone handles it.

Change or delete a reminder#

Select the reminder under Reminders in the task. Change it and save, or delete it:

On Desktop, Web, Tablet and Foldable

Select × (Remove reminder) next to the reminder to delete it.

On Phone

Tap Delete Reminder at the bottom of the reminder.

See your notifications#

Your notification history lists reminders that went off, tasks assigned to you, mentions and changes in shared projects. It syncs between your devices.

On Desktop and Web

Click the bell at the top right of the window. The notifications open in the pane on the right.

On Tablet and Foldable

Tap the bell at the top right of the screen.

On Phone

Tap the bell at the top left of Today, or tap your picture, then Notifications.

In the list you can:

  • Select a notification to open the item it is about.
  • Switch between All and Unread, or type in Search notifications.
  • Use the filter button to filter by Status, Category, Platform or Sent.
  • Select Mark All ReadMark all read, or Clear AllClear all to empty the list. Restore in the message that follows brings it back.

On Desktop and Web
  1. Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, then Notifications. You can also click Notification settings at the bottom of the notifications pane.
  2. Turn Tasks assigned to me and Shared content updates on or off.
  3. To hold back alerts from other people at night, turn on Quiet hours and set the times.
On Tablet and Foldable
  1. Tap the Settings button at the bottom of the sidebar, then Notifications.
  2. Turn Tasks assigned to me and Shared content updates on or off.
  3. To hold back alerts from other people at night, turn on Quiet hours and set the times.
On Phone

  2. Turn Tasks assigned to me and Shared content updates on or off.
  3. To hold back alerts from other people at night, turn on Quiet hours and set the times.

Quiet hours hold back alerts about other people's changes until they end. Reminders still go off at their own times. These choices sync between your devices.

The same page shows whether this device may show notifications (Permission) and whether it is set up to receive them (Delivery). If notifications don't arrive, check that they are allowed for Jotifi in your device's settings.

Mute updates from one project or item#

If a shared project is busy, you can stop its updates without turning them off everywhere.

On Desktop and Web

Right-click the project in the sidebar and choose Mute project updates. For a single note, board or other item, right-click it in the items column and choose Mute updates. To undo it, open the menu again and choose Use inherited update setting: the project or item then follows your settings again.

On Phone, Tablet and Foldable

Touch and hold the project or item, then tap Mute in the buttons at the top of the menu. Tap Unmute to turn updates back on.

Reminders you set yourself are not affected by muting.
