This article is about foldable.

What it describes is not on your device, or works differently there. Choose another device above to read its steps, or browse the help topics for your device.

Jotifi lays itself out for the screen you are using. Folded, an Android foldable's cover screen uses the phone layout. Unfolded, the inner screen uses the tablet layout, split along the fold. The iPhone Duo's inner screen also uses the tablet layout, and its outer screen the phone layout, each with a bar of controls down the right edge.

On a folded foldable or the Duo's outer screen, follow the Phone steps in the other help articles.

Fold and unfold#

When you fold or unfold, Jotifi switches between the two layouts and keeps your place: the item you had open stays open, so you can carry on where you were.

Use both halves of the screen#

On Android foldable

On the unfolded screen, the list of your projects and items fills the left half, and the item you open fills the right half.

  • Make the list narrower: drag its right edge. The item then reaches across the fold.
  • Hide the list: tap the sidebar button at the top of the list. The item then uses both halves. To bring the list back, tap the sidebar button in the toolbar at the top.
  • Panes: details, a task, Share, notifications and your account open on the right half. The item moves to the left half, and the list folds away until you close the pane.
  • Recently opened and Recently deleted open as pages on the right half.
On iPhone Duo

On the inner screen, the list of your projects and items is on the left and the item you open is beside it. Down the right edge is a bar with the item's tools, the main action (+), Notifications and Search. Your open tabs stay at the top of the item.

Panes, such as details, a task or Share, open beside the item instead of covering it.

On the outer screen, Jotifi uses the phone layout without a tab bar: the screen's Back button, its actions and your tabs (Today, Projects, Tasks and the rest) are in the bar down the right edge.

How items fit around the fold#

On Android foldable

Jotifi keeps text and buttons clear of the fold, so nothing you need to tap sits on it.

  • Boards: the columns start past the fold. Swipe to move through them. See Use kanban boards.
  • Calendars: the month stays on the left and the selected day on the right.
  • Today: splits across the fold when each side has room for it.
  • Menus and pop-ups open on the side of the button you tapped.
  • Settings shows its list on one side and the setting you chose on the other.
On iPhone Duo

The iPhone Duo's inner screen has no fold to work around. Items use the space between the list on the left and the bar on the right, as on a tablet.

Tabs and split view#

Tabs work as on a tablet: your open tabs are in the toolbar at the top. Split view needs a screen at least 1000 points wide, so it is not available on foldables or the iPhone Duo. See Tabs, windows and split view.
